Blockchain technology is best known for powering the cryptocurrency Bitcoin. However, an ecosystem is emerging around the technology that has profound impacts on devops and APIs in more than just in the financial tech world.

At its core, the blockchain is an eventually-consistant distributed and trustless architecture for recording transactions. It poses a number of challenges for API developers and architects but also provides a number of powerful solutions. This talk will give an overview of the blockchain ecosystem, its building blocks, challenges, and opportunities. Including real-world use cases and challenges for blockchain technology.

This 25 minute talk will not go deep into the math or low level specifications so it is appropriate for people even without a deep technical background. However, there will be some technical details to provide the background needed to understand the technology and give developers and architects a jumping off point.
