Running an API that has been around for 8+ years and has thousands of users teaches a lot of lessons at a very rapid pace - lessons that producers & maintainers of all APIs can benefit from. In this session, we'll be discussing:
  • Active & passive communication techniques to use with your community
  • Balancing the dance between supporting your users & doing their work for them
  • Handling the times when you have to deliver disappointing news to your consumers (e.g. denying access or removing features)
  • Ways to understand what your community wants & needs, so you can design it into your roadmap
All of these conversations are driven by real-world examples, so you'll be able to see times where things worked - and when they didn't.
